AW17 Anya Hindmarch

Autumn Winter 2017

"Autumn Winter 2017 explores the contrast between the romanticised notions of winter and wanderlust and the darker motifs found in Old Norse folklore. This has been explored through modern interpretations of traditional leather craft techniques, including Scandinavian Kurbits and complex hand-woven leatherwork."

- Anya Hindmarch

AW17 Anya Hindmarch - Leather dragonflys

For me Anya Hindmarch is all about the accessories, although some of the clothing is beautiful and luxurious, it is the bags in particular that always inspire me and this seasons collection is no exception.

I love the opulence of this collection - from the gorgeous colour palette of rich burgundy and emerald green, interspersed with shots of yellow, baby pink and teal (not the traditional colours of winter) - to the variety of texture and unexpected elements of detailing. Colourful fur, knitted shorts and leather trims/embellishments dotted across the 38 looks within the show, adding to the wintery luxury and fun - although I will say the only part I was not so taken by was the socks and furry slides combination! All imagery in this post taken from Anya Hindmarch AW17

AW17 Anya Hindmarch - Favourite elements

I was a big fan of the leather work in the SS17 collection and was so pleased to see it back for another season. The intricate braiding and "paperchain" style straps adorning the classic bag silhouettes, add something new to a relatively simple accessory. I also love that some of the touches I have grown to know and love from Anya Hindmarch are still seen, the whimsical keychains and cartoon eyes, that sit perfectly aside the new.

AW17 Anya Hindmarch - all the details

Of all the pieces in the collection, the one item that has made my lust list is this satchel. Crinkled metallic leather and soft suede, in a gorgeous shade of teal, with a paper chain handle and pieced leather dragonfly motif. An exquisite piece of craftsmanship that would look amazing styled with my favourite navy wool coat.

The Michael Kors Rhea backpack

Still on the hunt for the perfect, stylish backpack (although I love my ASOS one from last summer), I have been looking for something classic and everyday but still looks fashionable. A style that appears to be hanging around for a while longer, the backpack is fast becoming the fashionistas choice for convenience and ease whilst keeping its chic edge. Now i know the Michael Kors Rhea backpack has been around for a while now, and I am probably a little late on the band waggon but it is a great day bag, with a subtle rock chic edge that toughens up any everyday look - especially nice balancing out a feminine dress.

Always on the look out for a good designer dupe, I was surprised to stumble across this one whilst browsing on Ebay - what do you think, not a bad dupe?

The Studded backpack - Michael Kors or Dupe

So the Michael Kors Rhea comes in at around £300, which is reasonable for a designer bag but still a lot of money.
The Ebay version is a much more reasonable £22 plus £2.95 P&P.

I already had high expectations for this bag, after a super quick two day delivery (only paid for standard Royal Mail), and my first impressions are...love it!

A great everyday size to fit all my essentials in, whilst not making me look like I am about to go to school or trek across the Himalayas - with the perfect length straps that means it sits comfortably in the centre of my back. Made from a great quality leather look PU, soft and supple with a nice textured finish, not the horrible cheap shiny PU like most cheap bags are made from. With large gold zips and hardware (not the cheap brassy kind either), and plenty of internal pockets to keep your stuff organised - the usual mobile phone pouch and a large zipped pocket.

My only two slightly negative comments would be that the Michael Kors Rhea comes with 3 separate compartments, whereas the Ebay version only has one large compartment but with multiple openings, meaning you cannot separate out your stuff. Also I wish it had a key clip inside so I didn't have to rummage around for my house keys, but my big pompom keyring has helped to locate them easier. Not what I would class as deal breakers for me, but something to consider if you do decide to purchase this bag.

All in all this is a great dupe, definitely worth a look if you too have been lusting after the Michael Kors version, especially as the only real difference is that the dupe has no branding. This style does also come in a couple of other colours including Tan & grey, and as I said above delivery was really quick.

The Glitter Fashionista: February 2017 Wishlist

Stripe tie cuff jumper - Warehouse | Silver metallic business card holder - Oliver BonasMarble open cuff bangle - ETSY
Unicorn Balloon Clutch - Kate Spade | Imagination monster tote bag - Kate Spade
Lace paneled dress - Chi Chi London via ASOS | Rainbow tote bag - Kurt GeigerStripe "Les filles" tee - River Island
______________

Kate Spade for me, has hit the ground running ahead of the new spring/summer season, with an amazing accessories collection that pushes statement boundaries and have produced some truly gorgeous pieces. Some of which, i will admit are very out there - the unicorn balloon clutch, cute but crazy and at £450 a definite wishlist item! but the perfect novelty piece (and who doesn't need a unicorn in their wardrobe) but some are a lot more everyday items with just the right amount of whimsy sprinkled on top. The monster tote, which was the first piece of the collection to catch my eye, is a great everyday bag (would make an amazing new mamma bag!!) but the eyelashes just add a little something unexpected.

Stripes are set to be key in my wardrobe this season and both pieces on my wishlist add a modern twist to an everyday basic. The jumper encapsulates the new season trend, and is all about the tie sleeves/cuffs which i love, along with the clever mix of stripes. Whilst the slogan tee elevates a classic and would be great teamed with a pair of jeans and ballets.

Finally i am always on the look out for Self-Portrait inspired pieces (i definitely cannot afford to splash out on an original) and this gorgeous version is under £100! Love the delicate and very intricate detailing of the lace, plus the demure sleeves makes this piece perfect for all occasions.
