Monthly Favourites #6

My monthly series, sharing the food, places, fashion, beauty and entertainment that I'm currently enjoying... and now including some #babysheath favourites too.

Next Pompom shoes & The Ordinary hyaluronic acid serum

1. My favourite pair of shoes of this summer have been these gorgeous pompom mules from Next. A birthday gift to myself back in April and a bargain at £32, especially considering all the detailing on the shoes. They are really cute, on trend plus are super comfy and were a godsend for swollen pregnant feet and have proven invaluable over the last few months as they are so easy to slip-on whilst holding the baby. Teamed here with skinny jeans, a delicate lace top and burgundy slouchy bag for a family shopping trip (how amazing are these floor tiles...shoefie had to be done).

2. Since i got pregnant my skin has been awful, dry and really prone to spots, and while i had hoped once i'd had a baby it would clear up but alas no luck. This Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 from The Ordinary has been a skin saver, becoming a firm favourite in my daily routine and has helped so much - my skin is now clearer, softer, moisturised and glowing. I bought this bottle from ASOS, where i first found the brand but it is also now available on Feelunique. Need to go back and check out the rest of the range, particularly interested in the new foundations.

Current jewellery loves & Anya Hindmarch pouch

3. Getting back into jewellery this month - enjoying a mix of new along with some old favourites. Normally a fan of bold, statement jewellery but i have had to switch to more delicate baby friendly pieces (little hand grab everything) and am currently loving mixing metals - rose gold, silver and a splash of pearl. Current everyday combination is the rose gold "a" necklace and ear cuff, along with simple star studs, adding in some fun with the tassels and double pearl earrings when i want to mix it up. *Cactus jewellery holder from the new Zoella lifestyle range.

4. A cheeky little purchase from our trip to Bicester Village - an Anya Hindmarch rainbow pouch. Wanted to treat myself to a little designer piece and this was the perfect option. Currently using to store all my daily essentials (lipbalm, hand santitiser, etc) inside Mark's changing bag.

Planoly app & Primark Elephant doorstop

 5. Planoly app - discovered this a couple of weeks ago and don't know how i survived without it. Perfect to help plan out future Instagram posts and style my grid, moving images around to make the most out of the theme i am using at the time. Only thing to note is that you only get 30 uploads a month on the free plan and have limited access on analytics but if you are an avid Instagrammer there are other plans available - however for me the free one works.
Available on iTunes & Googleplay.

6. My amazing rose gold elephant doorstop, is one of the most bizarre things i have ever purchased from Primark and i love it! A homeware bargain at only £8 and although i am not using it as a doorstop, it looks amazing on a shelf in my lounge - random but makes me happy (but does freak the cat out a little).

Hart of Dixie & Mum wardrobe

7. My maternity leave entertainment. I have been working through four seasons of Hart of Dixie, whilst chilling out with my little man...perfect easy watching. Any recommendations what i should go for next?

8. Rocking my new mum uniform - skinny jeans, cute t-shirts, lightweight knits and flats, plus the essential pair of sunglasses to hide the eye bags! These new additions to my wardrobe are all easy mix & match pieces that look chic but are comfortable and practical for looking after a baby - add a bag and i am good to go.
New Look ripped black skinny jeans, H&M stripe tee, New Look "Funday" jumper and Primark gold flats.

TU Baby clothes & Jellycat soft toys

  9. I never thought i would get so excited about baby boy clothes, but at the moment i love nothing more than finding new little pieces for Mark's wardrobe - these are just two of my latest finds, both from Tu@Sainsburys. Colourful and fun as well as good quality and so soft - plus Mark looks adorable in them. Expensive lark this maintaining a baby wardrobe!

10. I have a new found love for Jellycat soft toys - Mark now has four (and i also have a little unicorn) and they are my favourites out of all his furry friends. James and i bought the bashful beige bunny after our 12 week scan as a little present. The very fluffy Cyril the Sloth was a gift from my sister whilst the little vibrating pram fox and Dennis the dinosaur were a treat when he was about a month old - i couldn't resist....so cute, especially Dennis. Any of these would make a great new baby gift, if you know anyone who is pregnant.

What have you been loving this month? Any recommendations?

Astrid & Miyu Jewellery

Astrid & Miyu is "the" hot brand of the moment on social media, as seen on the lovely Victoria from @inthefrow and Suzie from @hellooctober. I had seen the name pop up a couple of time but always assumed that this brand was up there with Monica Vinader & Missoma in terms of price, but after seeing some beautiful pieces in a "What i wore in a week" video from @hellooctober, i decided to take a closer look. So pleased to find that not only are the pieces beautiful, on trend but also very reasonably priced - don't get me wrong it's not super cheap but all items come in under £100 - amazing! I really love the dainty but statement look of the pieces and that most are available in a variety of metals, perfect to mix and match your look.

Feeling inspired, i ordered the Wishbone ear cuff in rose gold. Beautifully packaged, quick delivery and a stunning item of jewellery - simple, delicate and adorned with white diamantes. It looks great with my silver and rose gold star studs, fits comfortably in the crook of my ear and although a little awkward to get on/off the first couple of time, it isn't budging which is great as it won't fall off. I decided to go for a cuff, as I wanted to treat myself to something but can't wear anything too big at the moment, as Mark is in a phase of grabbing hair, clothes, anything he wants but this looks great and is baby friendly.

After buying the cuff, i now have my eye on a couple more pieces for my collection - a mixture of silver and rose gold (love to mix at the moment) and wanted to share them with you....plus a helpful shopping reference for hubby before Christmas!
*Worth noting that if you sign up for the Astrid & Miyu newsletter you get 10% off your first order.

Selected Femme Flower Printed Skirt - ASOSGingham Crop Frill Jacket - Topshop | Cloud Sweatshirt - Anya Hindmarch
Pom Pom Market Basket - Edit58 | Olivia Burton Begin To Blush Leather Watch - ASOS
Fluro Stripe Smock Dress - ASOS | Spice things up Winking Camel pouch - Kate Spade
Parisian Blue Stripe Floral Embroidered Bardot Top - New Look | ACE Laser Cut Point Shoes - Topshop

With one day of sunshine so far this month, my thoughts have turned to the seasons ahead and some much needed colour and fun needed as temperatures finally start to warm up in the UK.

Perfect for spring and ticks all the boxes for the gingham trend, this cute boxy jacket with fluted sleeves would work so well with both a jeans & tee combo as well as an casual LBD.

The main item on this wishlist i need in my life is the straw tote - a huge summer must have for the last few years this one is the perfect size and embraces my favourite trend of detailing....the pom pom beautifully. Not the cheapest version around but well crafted and gorgeous.

The final callout has to go to this amazing organza striped dress from ASOS. A gorgeous spring pastel palette and some interesting detailing - gathered waist and longer sleeves, making it a perfect dress. Would be great for a wedding but also great for daytime, dressed down with flat sandals and that straw tote.

AW17 Anya Hindmarch

Autumn Winter 2017

"Autumn Winter 2017 explores the contrast between the romanticised notions of winter and wanderlust and the darker motifs found in Old Norse folklore. This has been explored through modern interpretations of traditional leather craft techniques, including Scandinavian Kurbits and complex hand-woven leatherwork."

- Anya Hindmarch

AW17 Anya Hindmarch - Leather dragonflys

For me Anya Hindmarch is all about the accessories, although some of the clothing is beautiful and luxurious, it is the bags in particular that always inspire me and this seasons collection is no exception.

I love the opulence of this collection - from the gorgeous colour palette of rich burgundy and emerald green, interspersed with shots of yellow, baby pink and teal (not the traditional colours of winter) - to the variety of texture and unexpected elements of detailing. Colourful fur, knitted shorts and leather trims/embellishments dotted across the 38 looks within the show, adding to the wintery luxury and fun - although I will say the only part I was not so taken by was the socks and furry slides combination! All imagery in this post taken from Anya Hindmarch AW17

AW17 Anya Hindmarch - Favourite elements

I was a big fan of the leather work in the SS17 collection and was so pleased to see it back for another season. The intricate braiding and "paperchain" style straps adorning the classic bag silhouettes, add something new to a relatively simple accessory. I also love that some of the touches I have grown to know and love from Anya Hindmarch are still seen, the whimsical keychains and cartoon eyes, that sit perfectly aside the new.

AW17 Anya Hindmarch - all the details

Of all the pieces in the collection, the one item that has made my lust list is this satchel. Crinkled metallic leather and soft suede, in a gorgeous shade of teal, with a paper chain handle and pieced leather dragonfly motif. An exquisite piece of craftsmanship that would look amazing styled with my favourite navy wool coat.
Available from September - www.anyahindmarch.com
