Temperley London - SS17

"Our Summer 2017 collection celebrates the new desert rainbow tribe, exploring our girls desire for escapism with rich sunset colours and iridescent glimmers. We follow her dreams of the other world through the lens of a desert mirage."
Alice Temperley

Temperley London SS17 - Rainbow Sequins

The moment i saw this rainbow, sequin jumpsuit complete with cape, i knew this was going to be a special collection. Feminine and soft but with dramatic pops and a powerful palette of summery pastels mixed with bold shades of the rainbow.  A collection of simple, but very wearable silhouettes that let the detailing do all the talking.

Beautiful surrealist prints on silk and chiffon, tapestry jacquard, eclectic stripes layered with folk inspired prints and stitch work- a very colourful and textured collection. Exquisite eveningwear pieces adorned with iridescent sequins and whimsical flowers, with lashings of embellished tulle and organza in a rainbow spectrum of soft colours channeling the spirit of dreamcatchers. A fashion week show fit for a modern day princess!

Temperley London SS17 - The collection

These are the nine looks i loved the most - all styles i could see myself wearing. Although i love the whole collection, i don't have many occasions to wear such ornate pieces, but the Almond mix charm skirt (below) is just so wearable but still has the fun and romantic essence of the collection. Teamed with a silky cami and sandals, this would make a perfect addition to my summer wardrobe.

Temperley London SS17 - My favourite look

The main thing that caught my eye in this collection is simply the level of intricate detailing in each piece....just look at how much has gone into just the waistband and sleeves on the Chimera Top and Almond Mix Wildflower Skirt, simply beautiful.

Sophia Webster - SS17

“Spring/summer 2017 came about because I was watching Dreamgirls and then randomly I watched Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, and I thought it would be good to create a world where they join,” she smiled as she gave us a preview of her newest collection, “So for my pre and main collections I was looking at birds of paradise, mixed with some Sixties chunky heels and detailing. That's why I called the show The Dolly Birds Of Paradise.” - Sophia Webster

Sophia Webster SS17 - collection inspiration

Sophia Webster SS17 - My favourite styles

In true Webster style the collection is made up of brand classics (like the Chiara), updated in new fabrications and colours alongside some gorgeous new silhouettes. Bright colours, monochromes and lashings of metallics (gold & rose gold) mixed with exquisite prints - peacock, birds of paradise and tropical leaves. A broad collection, of heart shaped perspex heels, muled slides, mid heights and chunky curved platforms, all on display in gilded cages.

The standout styles for me are the black/white humbug striped heels, with the rose gold hardware and monochrome tassels along with the Effie platform, which has the most amazing tri-print silk upper (lead image on this post). I also love that on some of the collections key looks a lower alternative is offered, so everyone can join the conga line and strut their stuff in the most amazing shoes.

Sophia Webster SS17 - the sneakers

Interspursed with the glitz and glamour are some great sneaker styles - still incorporating the flair of Webster design through prints and the embellished butterflies but offer something for the less girly girls out there. How cute would these tropical sneakers be on tube for your daily commute!

Sophia Webster SS17 - the caged birds
Sophia Webster SS17 - the birds of paradise

No detail has been spared in this presentation, from the gilded cages showcasing the shoes and models, to the braided ropes and tropical plants. This kind of attention to detail really brings the collection to life along with the soulful Motown music playing in the background and the flamboyant models, dressed in bold feathers like tropical birds or chilling out in gold cages dressed like go-go girls from the 60's.

Sophia Webster SS17 - the fashion weekend tote

And if all this wasn't enough excitement for one week, Sophia has also designed the London Fashion Week tote bag featuring the beautiful peacock print from the collection. - wish i was going just to get one of these!

SS17 Anya Hindmarch

"This season I've been preoccupied by the relationship between geometry and art. These two visual mediums are both articulated through pattern, form and colour - things that have always fascinated me. Starting with the 'simple' circle - perhaps the most intriguing geometric shape - I've mixed native craft techniques and cutting edge technology to create complex shapes. I like to think of this as the leather work equivalent of a mathematical equation."
- Anya Hindmarch

SS17 Anya Hindmarch - the details

A large white circular stage filling the centre of the show space, but once the lights dimed and the music started, this circular stage lifted into the air, to reveal a swirl of stairs and from it emerged the first of the models. First lets discuss the beautiful collection of clothing pieces - made from a stiffer neoprene fabric, simple shapes with intricate detailing through cut outs and embellishments. The basis of the embellishment is the simple circle, combined into these intricate leather decorations adorning the shoulders, pockets and hemlines - simple but beautiful. Long line coats and sleeveless jackets covering pastel colourblocked swimsuits - all very ladylike, feminine and almost vintage, in pastel shades balancing out the tougher structure of the fabrics.

The collection colour palette was based around pastel/sorbet shades of coral, yellow, lilac, pistachio and off white with brighter bold pops of mustard, lime green and intense orange. A delightful new take on the traditional spring summer colours typically seen - this mixed with the unusual textured neoprene offered something new and exciting.

SS17 Anya Hindmarch - my favourite looks

Of the 40 looks in the show, these were my favourites - three amazing style coats. A simple longer length cut with a belt to cinch in the waist, bold solid colour with statement shoulder detailing what isn't to love? The only part of these looks i am not so mad about are the shoes...i love the quirky touches that are synonymous with the Hindmarch brand but furry fried egg flip flops are just a little too bizarre for me.

SS17 Anya Hindmarch - the bags

So onto my favourite part of the show, in fact any fashion week show...the bags! If i had to choose only one, to add to my SS17 wishlist, it would have to be the lilac/white box bag (largest image above). I was immediately drawn to the simple shape, intricate woven straps, touch of silver glitter and all those pockets.

In a similar style to the clothing, the bags are quite classic, simple silhouettes but all given that added Hindmarch touch through colour, texture and hardware. Supple leathers, touches of metallic, statement zips, mosaic tiles, decoupage style embellishment made up of colourful circles, chunky hardware and ornate woven leather straps. And if that wasn't enough, all manner of fun keyrings - colourful pentagon cubes, googly eyed purses, furry fried eggs and rainbows.

This is just a snippet of the collection, the pieces i loved most - for the whole collection and to watch a video of the show (worth it to see the clothing in their full glory) head over to the website - anyahindmarch.com.

Autumn Fashion Haul

Picked up a few pieces to start the new Autumn season - keeping to my classic autumn/winter monochrome and grey colour palette and introducing some pops of leopard and burgundy. Some great high-street pieces from New Look, ASOS, Zara and Primark (who have upped their game this season!).

Autumn Fashion Haul - the products

1. Cable Cardigan with Contrast Trim £35 | ASOS
I love the oversized styling of this cardi, the knit detailing and the gorgeous pale grey and white colour combination. I was also so surprised just how so soft it is, especially as it is just a polyester mix. Ideal for wearing with my skinny jeans and a tee for casual days.

2. Black Star Print Skinny Scarf £4.99 | New Look
Wanting to get in on the star print trend, but in a subtle way. This skinny scarf offers a touch of rock chic to a simple outfit and looks great styled with my khaki utility jacket.

3. Leopard Neckerchief £3 | Primark
The newest addition to my accessories collection - again i wanted to try the neckerchief trend but hate the 90's bandanna print that most seem to come in. Spotted this one yesterday and loved the ombre base colour and statement leopard print. Plus a versatile piece - can wear as neckerchief, as a headband or tied onto my handbag.

4. Mono Pyjama Style Shirt £10 | Primark
A dressier shirt option, smartening up my ripped jeans. Love the neckline too, nice not to be buttoned up to the neck. Actually bought this in navy with white trim but can't find an image, so substituted the black.

5. Khaki Textured Cold Shoulder Roll Sleeve Shirt £17.99 | New Look
Simple, long-line shirt that looks great with skinny jeans. Lightweight enough for a warmer day but can be layered up with knitwear when it gets colder.

6. Flat Embroidered Shoes £29.95 | Zara
My favourite addition so far, very Gucci. Sumptuous velvet, in a gorgeous burgundy shade (my favourite for Autumn) will add some much needed colour and texture to my very monochrome wardrobe. Will be styling up with jeans but will also work with a dress/skirt with black tights without looking too party.

7. White Stripe Jumper £7 | Primark
Easy basic piece, a winter alternative to the traditional Breton tee. Great for wearing with jeans but also looks cute with my little suede button down mini from last year. I love lightweight knits as they are so easy to layer up.

8. Western Ankle Boots £28 | ASOS
As you may have seen in my Look for Less boots post - i have been looking for a western buckle style pair of boots but didn't want to spend a fortune. This ASOS pair are just what i wanted, flat so will be comfy for walking but still styled enough to wear with dresses. I love the aesthetic of these boots, the combination of texture and chunky hardware create something a little different.

9. Mid Blue Relaxed Ripped Skinny Jeans £15 | Primark
New pair of jeans needed, normally live in black jeans but wanted to try a more traditional denim but not spend a fortune. These fit lovely, my only comment would be that these were clearly designed for a tall person, the knee rips are no where near my knees!

10. Western Buckle Belt £3 | Primark
Had the ASOS £20 version of this belt sat in my saved items for weeks but when i saw this Primarni version i couldn't resist - almost identical at a fraction of the price. A nice accessory to help style my favourite summer dresses into Autumn.

11. Lace Mix Longline T-Shirt £ | ASOS
Channelling my inner goth, a simple black tee with intricate lace detailing around the bottom and neckline. An elevated classic making a casual outfit look more pulled together.

Makeup Revolution Precision Oval Brush Collection - First Impressions

First brought to us by MAC, then by Artis, oval make-up brushes have become the subject of curiosity and controversy in the beauty world, due to their unusual shape and the way they apply make-up to the face. The early versions are, as expected fairly pricey and this can be off putting especially with something so new - will they actually do the job and are they worth it? But have no fear, as Makeup Revolution have just launched their own oval brushes collection - the Makeup Revolution Precision Oval Brushes, offer precise, targeted application and all under £12!

Makeup Revolution was a recent brand discovery of mine, earlier this year and so far all the products i have tried, i have loved so thought i would give these beautiful but odd new brushes a try. To begin with i went for the Large Oval Face Brush, as i am in need of a new foundation brush, plus it is the most versatile I think as it can also be used for bronzer and powder too - a great all rounder.

Makeup Revolution Precision Oval Brush Collection - Packaging

"The design of this brush means it adapts to the shape of your face providing the most flexible movement for flawless application. Perfect for use with foundation, bronzer or finishing powder" - Makeup Revolution

Makeup Revolution Precision Oval Brush Collection - Rose Gold Handles Makeup Revolution Precision Oval Brush Collection - Soft Bristles

Armed with my Borjouis foundation, the first thing I noticed was just how beautiful the rose gold handles are, something simple but important to me. Next up the bristles are packed super dense which creates the perfect soft cushion (don't think I have ever used such a soft brush before) and along with the oval shaped head of the brush, allows smooth application. The brush is easy to use, offers quick application of foundation/powder and despite its large size, gets into all the small areas around your eyes and nose easily. My only comment would be that the handle looks flimsy but to my surprise is actually strong yet flexible. This brush left my foundation looking smooth and natural, the perfect base for an everyday look and helped my look to last all day, especially around my nose where I often struggle.

I would definitely recommend this brush and after using it, i am now very interested in trying out some of the others in the collection. Next time i am in Superdrug, i will be picking up the oval cheek brush and if that is just as good, maybe all eight brushes from the collection will end up in my makeup bag!

Makeup Revolution Precision Oval Brush Entire Collection

The brushes can either be purchased separately (from £4.99-11.99), as a whole collection or in three piece sets (face & eyes £19.99). Head over to tambeauty.com to find the full collection, and the brushes are also now available at Superdrug.

Have you tried these amazing rose gold brushes yet? Would love to hear your first impressions, or your favourite brush, so please leave me a comment below....

AW16: The Embroidery Trend

Not in a long time, have i been so excited to embrace a new season trend...as a lover of fashion, I do enjoy getting involved in new season trends but at the same time, I am not a slave to them. However this season i am obsessed with the romantic, girly gothic embroidery trend. Mostly intricate floral patterns but also birds and butterflies adorning dresses, jeans, jackets and even boots. I think i love this trend so much, because it is the perfect mix of feminine florals but with a tougher edge, something almost gothic about some of the black base patterns, plus its the detailing, so intricate.

So while i obsess, thought i would share my favourite pieces from the highstreet, embracing the embroidery trend. A mix of girly dresses, staple denim, jackets, skirts and not forgetting accessories - the best way to test out a new trend if you aren't sure it fits your individual style. Enjoy and please let me know in the comments your favourite piece...

A spot of leopard

Meet Ronnie, the newest addition to my handbag collection...isn't she a beauty! I decided that my collection was missing some leopard print after seeing a JCrew version styled up by Alex from the-frugality.com. The moment i saw this one from Accessorize, hanging around in a window display last weekend, i fell in love - it is the perfect size for everyday and best of all only £19....

This hint of leopard will work so well in my autumn wardrobe, as i tend to wear a lot of black and this will add a pop of interest. Will look just as good with my favourite LBD as it will with a pair of jeans and a Pyjama style shirt. If you want any inspiration on how to add leopard print to your look, check out my How to Wear Series.

Part of the camera bag collection, this leopard lovely is in a beautiful soft textured material (almost calf hair but not), with a large front pocket, gold hardware, a long removable strap and plenty of space. A great size for my daily essentials and i like the two separate compartments - so i can keep my phone and purse separate from makeup, keys and other randomness i carry around. If leopard isn't your cup of tea, then this great little bag is available in other colours too.

A spot of Leopard
