"Do what you love, love what you do"...

After feeling very uninspired lately with my blog - still love it and enjoy working on content, but super busy at work so time has not been on my side. To help try and combat this i decided to finally create myself some dedicated space in my house where i can sit and create in peace. Normally i will either sit in the kitchen, on the sofa or in bed but not only are these venues not good for my back, i have to keep moving/packing away to make space for life.

So now here i sit, in my little corner of the spare bedroom on a big antique dining room table (until i get to IKEA to find a new desk) surrounded by my favourite fashion/style books, copious amounts of beautiful stationery and little miss Willow snoozing next to me. Going to have to be careful though - could find myself whiling away hours in here.

New Blogger Office - all about the pin board

New Blogger Office - books beautiful books
I like to have a big pin board of images on the desk, as while i do love my Pinterest boards, there is just something so old school about physically collecting images. I also love to keep all these images in a notebook (was told by a lecturer at Uni to always have a book of inspiration - you never know when it will come in handy) so this book has about 8 years of tearings in it.

I also have just a couple of my favourite fashion/style theme books - have way too many to store here but wanted to have a few at hand, to flick through for inspiration. Accompanied by a selection of the latest magazines - Vogue / Hello Fashion and Elle Collections. And last but no means least, no desk would be complete without the nic-nacks....mug, pens, post it notes and lots of pretty notebooks.

New Blogger Office

The final items are my filofax, where i do all my post planning - this one is the A5 patent Domino in neon pink. I find actually writing lists and notes helps me, although i do also use the Wunderlist app on my phone - perfect partners.  Along with my laptop, where all the magic happens - a HP Stream 11" in the gorgeous shade of purple. Not the biggest or the best but covers all my needs and most important of all is super light.

Already feeling more inspired, by simply having a place to collate my thoughts and space to shoot some pretty photo's. I do however think there are a few bits still missing, that i will tackle once i get a proper desk, but thought i would share with you my current Blogger office wishlist (it will get a lot bigger)....that lets be honest are all items that will make this space Instagramable...(all products linked below).

Now back to work......or should i say catching up on YouTube videos, sadly the new space hasn't completely solved my procrastination issues!

How to Wear Leopard print - Jenna Lyons quote

To quote my favourite lady of fashion, Jenna Lyons - treating leopard print as a neutral opens up so many possibilities. A simple print that these days comes in so many colour/size variations and mixes well with other prints - see more in my Mixing Prints post. Now while i love this statement print, i do find there is a fine line between chic style and looking like Pat Butcher (for those not familiar, she was a character in the British soap Eastenders who had some very interesting taste in clothing and earrings - give her a google so you know what to avoid).

My personal preference is to add leopard to my outfits through accessories (love the scarf and green leather jacket combo) and shoes, especially stylish in a simple slip-on sneaker or classic ballet pump, but below are some of my favourite Pinterest images of ways to incorporate a touch of the jungle into your wardrobe.

How to Wear Leopard print - street style inspiration
1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8

A statement jacket is a great way to embrace the print, especially when teamed with a simple uniform of a white or grey tee and denim or to add some detail to an all black outfit with a striking winter coat. If you like something a little bold go for a skirt - i love the yellow print maxi and Kenzo tee, look above - not a combination i would have ever thought of but looks so chic but giving the print a rock/biker chick edge, plus i haven't seen much yellow leopard before, have you?

What is your favourite way to style your leopard print?? For more inspiration check out my Pinterest board, dedicated to all things leopard....

My Monthly Favourites

My monthly series, sharing the food, places, fashion, beauty and entertainment that I'm currently enjoying.

1. Such an amazing coffee table book, with a truly inspiring story. A look inside one woman's wardrobe after loosing her mum to cancer, showcasing 365 days of outfits, built entirely on items from charity shops. A refreshing look into how cancer touched one woman's life and her mission to raise awareness and money - of course all proceeds from the book go to Cancer Research. Available to buy now from Amazon. I love the concept of this book and there are some great styling tips in there too.

2. Since i started swimming again my hair is a nightmare - love to swim, but hate the chlorine! So after reading something about oils helping with hair condition after swimming, i decided to try out coconut oil and it is amazing, not only for my dry hair but also for my skin and nails. This is Superdrug's own brand coconut oil, so isn't expensive but has left my hair feeling soft and hydrated, will be going back for the larger tub.

3. My favourite summer dress of 2016. Love the simple shape, the off the shoulder styling (not full elastic so actually stays in place) and the super flattering mix of stripes. This was a bold choice for me, don't think i have ever owned anything red before but i feel in love with the nautical twist to the dress. This was actually a shot taken on my wedding anniversary (hiding a belly full of an amazing tapas meal!).

4. Enjoyed an amazing day out, with my sister at the West Midlands Safari park. Saw lots of animals, screamed a lot while getting soaked on the rides and during a couple of torrential down pours plus made a couple of feathered friends. These colourful little birds are lorikeets - they were so beautiful and friendly, to the point where just after this pic was taken one was sat on top of my head, preening my hair!

5. Nothing better than fresh flowers in the house. These were a beautiful bunch from a local shop and i was so impressed that it included peonies plus i love the rich purples shades. Have to be careful not to buy flowers that include lilies, as they are poisonous to cats and Willow can't help herself - as soon as she see the vase she has her head in them, usually chewing on the leaves.

6. A cheeky little treat from Etsy - this pretty little rose gold unicorn pin, is the perfect addition to my faithful denim jacket. Check out the seller - Ilovecrafty, for this and many more fun & quirky jewellery pieces.

7. When it comes to my nails, i only ever use Essie polish. I love the consistency and coverage, plus there are so many gorgeous shades to choose from. My favourite shades for the summer are: Tart Deco - a dreamy coral / Saltwater Happy - sugar sweet atlantic blue / Funny Face - a provocative shade of fuchsia / Mint Candy Apple - a creme de menthe mint. What shade do you love to wear in the summer?

8. Enjoying a brief afternoon of summer sunshine in my back garden, with these gorgeous purple aviators from Primark and only £2!. Plus how cute are my flower beds, they are the only good thing to come out of the last month of rain!!

9. My gorgeous new sale purchase from The Cambridge Satchel Company - who could resist this oxblood leathery delight? Read more in the satchels introduction post.

10. Finally trying out a recipe from the new Tanya Bakes book. So many yummy recipes to choose from but i went for the cheesecake & dark chocolate cupcakes as my first bake. While my icing skills need improving, the cakes themselves are really nice, especially loving the cheesecake element and so many chocolate chips!

My Cloud Satchel

Ever since my husband bought me my first Cambridge Satchel, for my birthday back in April, i have been obsessed with the brand (love, love, love the new neon pink Poppy backpack) and when i saw a couple of sale emails with an extra 20% off, pop up in my inbox i thought it rude not to take a look!

I was so excited to find the beautiful Peony Peach Striped Cloud bag in the sale but after much consideration, i decided although absolutely gorgeous and a great price, it is a very summery colour and i already have my dusk blue satchel for the summer months. So i decided to keep looking, at what else was in the sale and came across the Patent Cloud bag in this beautiful oxblood colour. Oxblood happens to be one of my favourite colours and my go to shade for the winter months so i thought this would be perfect choice. So i made a cheeky little purchase.....

Scalloped edges

Not normally a patent lover, but this isn't your usual super glossy patent, its more like a subtle shine that is actually really pretty, but no matter what angle i shoot it from, it looks a different shade in every shot!

Satchel hardware

Slightly larger in size but slimmer then my push lock, the Cloud satchel is the perfect size and fits all my everyday essentials in - see exactly what fits here. I love the scalloped edge on the flap, a very modern detail that adds an extra feminine touch. I had been put off the traditional satchels as they were too structured but somehow this scalloped edge softens the overall silhouette of the bag. I am also really impressed with the detailing on this bag, beautiful but simple - classic gold hardware, with subtle brand moments (on the twist lock panel and the strap buckle) and that unmistakable smell of quality leather.

My Cambridge Cloud Satchel

Although i bought predominately to wear in the Autumn, i couldn't resist teaming it with my new boho top the other day, as the colour of the bag picked out the embroidery perfectly....plus i was way too excited to just leave it in it's dustbag!

Be sure to head over to The Cambridge Satchel Company and "bag a bargain". This Patent Cloud style was £145 down to £70 but so worth the money for a quality leather bag from a true British brand.

Which style would you choose in the sale?

My Bomber Jacket

A definite trend of SS16, and judging by the new season previews for AW16, the bomber jacket will be around a little while longer. Starting small and embracing print but with lots of new solid styles coming through, in a variety of fabrics, this simple jacket has become a firm favourite and i can see why. At first i was hesitant to buy one and embrace the trend, but it was just about finding the right one for me. Originally i fell in love with this gorgeous pastel pink floral style but it washed me out and just didn't suit me so I chose this darker floral print option with contrast sleeves from New Look. The perfect balance of statement print and colour blocking in a reasonably neutral palette - i have been styling up with my jeans as well as layering over my favourite everyday dresses. It featured in my Spring Lookbook.

There are so many different styles to choose from - whether you want florals or embellishment, sporty or girly, print or solid. It is the perfect lightweight jacket to throw on with jeans, skirts and dresses but will be equally cute layered up with a polo-neck or jumper in the autumn. These are my favourites...

TGF Edit: Bomber Jackets

My two favourite styles above would have to be #7 - the pink/grey contrast sleeve jacket, as it's simple and has a sports luxe vibe to it and would look great with a simple jeans & tee combo. Along with #8 - a gorgeous embroidered lace jacket. The detailing is stunning but this would be an investment piece, as it is from the premium brand Needle & Thread. This would be a lovely piece to add to a touch of sparkle and glamour, perfect teamed with tailored trousers or an LBD.

Style Spotlight: Julia Engel

If there was ever a wardrobe i envied and wished i could own, it would have to be this one. Julia Engel of the beautiful lifestyle blog Gal Meets Glam, has the perfect girl next door look mixed with stunning designer pieces - i mean have you seen her handbag collection! I love her very girly style, she has similar tastes to me in terms of prints and colours, so i am very inspired by her and have so many of her looks pinned to my style boards on Pinterest. I find her overall style to be very simple and classic, but at the same time she knows the worth of a beautiful print or statement piece mixed in.

Below are just a few of my favourite looks and what i love about them....

Girl Meets Glam: Girly Dresses

GIRLY DRESSES

Dresses seem to be a staple in Julia's wardrobe with feminine, girly details in abundance. Delicate lace and embellishment alongside ruffles and florals in beautiful pastels, strong monochromes and a dash of statement colour. She tends to opt for dresses that nip in at the waist with a fuller skirt teamed with a classic bag (her favourites tend to be a Chloe Drew, Celine box or anything from Chanel) and a tailored jacket, a great outfit formula. I love the middle look especially - a beautiful abstract floral dress from Kate Spade, teamed with preppy flats and a blush trench - this is such a chic way to be out in the rain, a look that would work perfectly in the classic British "Summer" weather.

Girl Meets Glam: Summer Casuals

 SUMMER CASUALS

A varied array of styles in Julia's summer outfits, but stripes always seem to be a staple - teamed with everything from tailored trousers to pretty skirts and everyday denim. Summer also brings out a rainbow of colours, from beautiful shades of teal to bold sunny yellows - not sure there is a colour this woman can't pull off! I am in love with the off the shoulder play-suit outfit, it's so relaxed but still looks put together, with summer accessories - a stylish hat (with boho braid) and straw bag, would make a great holiday look.

Girl Meets Glam: Winter Chic

WINTER CHIC

Now, i find winter the hardest season to dress for - you want to look cute and stylish but be warm at the same time. Julia seems to be able to do both with ease, making even wellingtons look chic. Rather than sticking to the traditional black and grey palette many of us wear during the colder months, she mixes in white and pastels along with bold reds and blues. I really love the all white outfit, the smart tailoring mixed with the cute bobble hat looks stylish and snuggly. I think the key to her winter look is sticking with key pieces, like a classic coat but adding interest and texture through accessories, with pops of colour to jazz up what could be a boring outfit.
