Make Up Revolution, a beauty brand that i have only recently discovered - stumbled upon it whilst looking for a new inexpensive blusher in my local Superdrug store. A relatively new highstreet make up brand, started in 2014 with an amazing range of products at purse friendly prices, with most items coming in at under £10. So far i have only tried a few items but i thought i would share my first impressions, as all of the products have made it into my everyday make up bag. Ultra Pointed Crease Eye Makeup Brush £5.99
A bit of a impulse purchase - not gonna lie was drawn in by the gorgeous rose gold handle and soft fluffy bristles, but did need a new eyeshadow brush so thought i would give the Revolution brushes a try. The perfect shape and size for creating both subtle and dramatic eye looks with powder shadows, would be interested to try with a cream formula too. Applies and blends beautifully especially metallic shades which can be tougher to apply evenly.

Pro Fix Oil Control Fixing Spray £5
Picked this product up as an emergency buy on a hen night - the moment of realisation that i had forgotten my fixing spray - wearing a white dress and parting all night, definitely needed to make sure my makeup stayed on my face. Really impressed by the product especially as i simply grabbed the cheapest spray i could find, and it lasted all night. Only thing i have found through daily use, is i need to apply mascara afterwards or i end up with panda eyes as it is quite a wet formulation when applied, but dries fast. This bottle is now almost empty so need to repurchase.



Blush Palette Golden Sugar £6 
Not sure what shade of blusher i needed, i thought buying a multi palette would be good, give me a chance to try out different shades until i found the one. A great 8 palette, which actually has a mixture of blush, highlight and contour shades perfect for creating a whole look. All very subtle shades of pink, the blushers are perfect for a rosy cheek look but it is the highlighters that i am most impressed with. Baked product with a beautiful iridescent glow that gives my skin the perfect touch of shimmer, highlighting my cheek bones and brow bone for an everyday look.

Fortune Favours The Brave Palette £9.99 
Saw this palette was a collaboration, designed by British Beauty Blogger Jane Cunningham! and was so impressed when i saw it in person. A great collection of shades mixing both matte and shimmer - from subtle everyday nudes and pinks to statement purples and greens. Not convinced i will use them all but so far am loving the nudes (Glimmer, Buffer & Golden Coins) and especially the rose gold shades (Favour, Pink Diamond & Sunset Hour). Great pigmentation and staying power, even in the lighter shades which i do find can come off easily throughout the day. I am particularly impressed with the shimmery shades, offering a subtle sparkle without looking like a disco ball - can't wait to try out some of the more dramatic dark shades on a night out. Plus i like that both palettes come with a large mirror in the lid, great for doing your makeup on the go.

Also discovered the brands "little sister" range I heart Make-up, which has some budget versions of the Too Faced chocolate palettes, which look like amazing dupes - £8 for 16 shades! I also think the Blushing hearts blusher trio looks interesting and such pretty packaging. Shop the full Make Up Revolution range at Superdrug.

First Impressions: Makeup Revolution

ASOS Spring Haul

I need to announce i am an ASOS addict! Its just so easy to shop and return items, from the comfort of my sofa. However this can be massively dangerous for the bank balance...I try to buy for a reason, like a trip or an occasion but lately there have been so many pieces i have just loved - so much so i know the delivery driver by name! I love the variety of brands available but i also really rate their own brand range, great quality at even better prices. 

So i thought i would share all the goodies i have picked up over the last month or so - all own brand ASOS except for the cute slingback shoes. Some transition items, great for layering, as well as some more summer sun styles.

My Spring ASOS Haul

1. Sleeveless Swing Dress With Button Front £18 - a great casual LBD, just the right length to wear with bare legs and sandals but would also work layered over a long sleeve tee with tights and boots. Love the button down detail, loose fit and simple v neck.

2. Sweatshirt With Floral Embroidery £28 - i needed a new third layer piece and this one is perfect. A basic item but the detailed feminine embroidery making it something a little different and more expensive.

3. Off The Shoulder Swing Dress £22 - a bardot style dress has been on my to buy list for a while now but was torn between this one and a slightly more structured New Look version, but chose this one as i liked the vertical stripes (helps to make my 5 ft 3 frame look taller). Light weight, floaty and great for the warmer days.

4. Flamingo Pom Keyring £6 - a silly little purchase, couldn't resist it. Such a cute pompom keyring for my bag or keys.

5. Stripe T-Shirt With Flamingo Badges £18 - again another flamingo purchase, simple tee for the weekends but not just a traditional striped tee.

6. Two tone slingbacks - New Look £17.99 - have been lusting after these since i saw on an Instagram picture from bangonstyle, the perfect affordable dupe for the Chanel slingbacks {sold out but try New Look in-store}.

7. Zip Front Square Backpack £32 - a must have for my trip to Paris, needed a hands free bag for travelling and this one was perfect. Great size, neutral colour and love the different style straps plus that it can be carried by the top handle too.

8. Floral Wrap Skater Dress £25 - a nice girly print in a classic wrap style dress, although a little booby without a cami underneath but perfect for the office as the fabric is a little thicker, almost structured.

9. Contrast Ribbed Panel Tee £10 - another great basic perfect for the weekend with jeans and can you believe the price. Love the fit too, a little on the baggier side around the tummy but fitted across the shoulders. Also comes in other colours and a multipack so may be going back for more.

10. Denim Button Front Mini Skater Skirt £25 - needed a new mini skirt and once i saw this little denim number i knew i had found the one. Love the button up front with pockets, the shape of it and the general fit. Also love that i saw it in Tanya Burr's vlog, styled with a simple tee.

Finding it really difficult to shop at the moment, the weather in the UK cannot make up its mind. One minute we have scorching sunshine so out comes my little summer dress and sandals, the next its raining cats & dogs but still muggy and warm. Getting dressed at the moment is proving to be a challenge - so my May wishlist is a real mixture of pieces, from high summer to some that are more transitional but all gorgeous. So many great pieces, but top of the wishlist would have to be the Kate Spade purse in this beautiful bubblegum pink shade, the spotty tee - a great modern basic, perfect to wear with cropped jeans or a denim mini skirt and the super girly lollipops colour block skirt. Can we take a moment to appreciate just how pretty this skirt is, an ombre of pinks and in a flattering midi length - it just has summer wriiten all over it!

If you haven't heard the name Chiara Ferragni, where have you been? One of the worlds biggest, most influential fashion/style bloggers, Chiara has achieved what most bloggers aspire to - world domination!! She started her fashion blog "The Blonde Salad" way back in October 2009 but today it is so much more than just a blog, it’s a source of inspiration and style for millions of readers around the world. On top of the usual brand collaborations and multiple magazine appearances, Chiara is the creative director of her own shoes & accessories line as well as being named by Business of Fashion, as one of the most influential personalities of the international fashion world - not bad going for a 29 year old!!

Now that's enough about the businesswoman, lets get onto the important matter of the fashion...

Chiara Ferragni Quirky outfits

A chameleon of style, Chiara is not afraid to push the limits and embrace the quirky - slogans, cartoon characters and bright coloured fur are just some of the statement regulars in her outfits. While some the looks are a little out there - the red fur coat covered in flowers is gorgeous but is a little too Elmo for me, she somehow pulls it off and looks amazing doing so. One element you find in most Chiara outfits is something Fendi, she is a massive fan of the super brand and often has one of the super cute Fendi monster keyrings swinging from her bag, taking the pompom trend to another level (and an expensive one at that!). My favourites from the quirky looks above would have to be the queen of hearts dress and coat combo, very feminine but toughened up with  the biker boots as well as her purple furry coat with matching mittens, dressing up a casual slogan sweatshirt and jeans.

Although all about fun, she is also a master at classic, girly dressing too - making an easy ripped jeans and blazer combo seem fresh and chic with killer accessory and effortless style. It seems like when she does do a simple look she will opt for jeans and a great bag then add a touch of fun through a statement shoe or jacket. I love the simple mini dress looks above - letting the dresses do the talking and keeping her accessories simple yet bold. In particular i like the centre image, a stunning intricate dress and red courts shoes is gorgeous but taken to another level with the addition of a fedora - not a combination you think would work but it does, almost added a casual element to an evening outfit.

Bardot Tops

Following on from my outfit post on Sunday, i wanted to share what i believe will be the IT item of Spring/Summer 16 - the bardot top, a girly staple for any wardrobe. The perfect easy everyday top, sexy but not showing too much flesh. Ideal for styling up with a pair of jeans for a day shopping or your favourite denim shorts on the beach creating a boho look. While i appreciate a classic crisp white style with my denim, some of the gorgeous seasonal prints i have seen lend themselves to this kind of top nicely, especially when teamed with a white skinnies or a simple mini skirt.

Summer Stripes


Hallelujah the sunshine has finally come out in the UK and wanting to embrace the warmer weather (while it lasts), i decided this would be the perfect day to give my new bardot top its first outing. I bought this way back at the end of March and have been itching to wear it ever since. A great style for the summer, with a flattering shape - loose and floaty in both the body and sleeves but fitted across the shoulders to keep it from falling down. I love its simplicity and the cute print - yellow and blue stripes are not my usual colours but with the white base, it makes a fresh combination. Styled up with distressed skinny jeans, my old faithful sandals and my favourite pair of Dior dupe sunglasses. Also added my new dusk blue satchel (worn without the strap) as an easy daytime clutch, perfect for a warm sunny day.

Really enjoying using this combo, i have seen a big difference both in what my hair looks like after a few days (less greasy) but also how manageable and frizz free it is. Plus as a bonus my hair is super soft and silky. The range also includes a pre-shampoo masque and dry shampoo, perfect for keeping your locks looking luscious.

2. Still a relative novice with eyeliner - have always kept it as a night out product however i saw this one in ViviannaDoesMakeup's video and loved the idea of adding a liner to my everyday look that wasn't black. H&M's raw umber is the perfect one - such a lovely almost coppery shade that gives my eyes definition but isn't as harsh as black. Applies well and lasts all day, my only dislike is that because its a self pencil you have to sharpen regularly which uses it up quicker than i would like but at only £3.99 not an issue to re-buy.


3. Now that we have lighter mornings, my bedroom is awash with sunshine from about 6 in the morning and i like to have a eye mask to keep things nice and dark (i am not a morning person!). This was a spur of the moment purchase after deciding that the bright yellow minions one i have been using for a while now was looking a little sad, so i went for this gorgeous mulberry silk eye mask from Soak&Sleep. Such a soft silk, which is also good for the skin and comfortable strap - perfect for a good nights sleep.

4. Think this one will go down as my find of the month. Stumbled across this beauty bag set, filled with miniatures and sachets of Elemis skincare in TKMax, which has a surprisingly wide variety of beauty products/brands in store.  The products are great to add to my travel stash but i really bought the set for the case - it is perfect for my make up, as the two compartments allow for brushes and products to be kept separate. A great dupe for the Anya Hindmarch travel case and at a fraction of the price.


5. Saw this cute jacket in a campaign shot for Primark back in January and have been on the hunt ever since - only managed to get hold of it mid March and since then haven't taken it off. What more could i want from a jacket - on trend khaki colour, great length and fit, lightweight for the warmer months and best of all only £18. Also comes in a khaki camouflage but not sure i am cool enough to pull that one off.

6. Essie Saltwater Happy, my new summer nail shade from the only brand of nail polish i use. A great pastel shade of blue with a lilac undertone - as usual good coverage and consistency, plus a nice change for me as i usually wear pinks or corals but fancied trying something a bit different. Is actually from the spring/summer 2015 collection, so i may have to stock up on a couple of extra bottles.


7. I have a love/hate relationship with New Look, sometimes i buy everything in there, others i don't like anything...this month its definitely love. So i treated myself to two new summer tops - one white sleeveless broderie anglaise and one floaty striped Bardot. Really impressed with this seasons collection and best of all both of these tops were under £20 but are great quality and fit. I may need to go back from the striped dress in the same colour palette as the bardot top.

8. A new product for me, was given a couple of packets of this granola to try and it is the nicest granola i have ever had (bold statement) so i have been enjoying it for breakfast with natural yogurt and strawberries. The flavours are Cinnamon & Pecan and Peanut & Apple and are available from Spoon Cereals UK. Not the cheapest , however the taste is worth it.


9. Netflix: This month its all about "How i met your mother", currently on season 9, so near the end and thoroughly enjoying. Any recommendations on what i should watch next?

10. Have always had a soft spot for Paris and all things Parisian so where better to celebrate my 30th birthday (read more about my trip in my post Thirty, flirty & thriving). The culture, the food and of course the fashions are all so sophisticated and chic. Plus had my first experience of Sephora, which was magical but very, very busy - don't choose the Champs-Élysées store on a Saturday afternoon....manic!

Monthly favourites

A new series dedicated to sharing the various food, places, fashion, beauty and entertainment that I'm currently enjoying.


1. New from L'Oréal Elvive the extraordinary clay re-balancing shampoo & conditioner, is designed to help with both greasy roots and dry ends. A breakthrough innovation which combines 3 refined clays into a hair care range to break the vicious cycle of oily roots & dry ends. My Cambridge satchel

One of the best British accessory brands around, The Cambridge Satchel company has been a firm favourite of mine for a few years now - beautiful quality and craftsmanship at reasonable prices. So much to my delight i received a very unexpected birthday gift from hubby - the large push lock satchel.  I had seen this style online and been lusting after it for a few months now and mentioned how cute it was and he actually listened!!! The push lock satchel comes in two sizes, medium and large - but so glad he bought the large.

Everything about this bag is gorgeous from the soft supple leather, silver hardware and subtle branding, down to how it arrived! A total sucker for pretty packaging, i was so impressed when i unwrapped it - not only in a dust bag but nestled inside a sleek magnetic closure box, with a sneaky Curly Wurly inside.


Normally i would always go for a classic colour, usually black or tan, but i fell seriously in love with the new seasonal colours (sweet pea blue, freesia purple & peony peach) and would have been happy with any of these shades, however i am so glad hubby went for this gorgeous dusk blue. A perfect summer shade, that adds a touch of colour to my wardrobe and almost matches my new nail polish. The size is also ideal, something smaller is much easier to carry round in the summer, plus this one can be worn on the shoulder, cross body or remove the strap and it easily becomes a clutch - versatility, which i love when it comes to bags.


Now i am normally a big bag kinda girl, i always end up like Mary Poppins with everything but the kitchen sink in there so with this bag i had to trim down to the essentials but was pleasantly surprised just how much this little beauty actually fits in.



So in my satchel i can fit:

1. Primark Sunglasses & case
2. Painkillers
3. Fleur De Force "Written in the stars" lip gloss
4. H&M passionfruit Lip Balm
5. L'Occitane hand cream
6. Inhaler
7. Greek all seeing eye charm, souvenir from holiday

9. Happy Plugs rose gold headphones
10. Car keys
11. Phone - Samsung Galaxy S 5 Mini in etsy cover
12. House keys with rose gold eiffel tower and Paul & Joe cat keyrings
13. Spare contact lenses
14. Small glittery coin purse
15. Accessorize card wallet

The only thing i would need to switch out would be my sunnies for small umbrella, especially in the UK where it rains a lot! but my tiny brolly from Primark would fit no problem.

I would definitely recommend the push lock satchel if you are looking for a classic, smaller bag but would say unless you are a very minimal girl opt for the large size, the medium is quite a bit smaller. Now just need to drop hints about the Oxblood version...a Christmas gift maybe. Head over to The Cambridge Satchel Co and check out the full range.
