SS14 Mulberry

"For the new season Mulberry is both town and country; influenced by modernist overtones from Sixties London juxtaposed with the opulence of the quintessential English country house and gardens." "The collection embraces both familiarity and modernity, working with classic prints and textures reinterpreted to create new season signatures imbued with Mulberry's inherent British with. A palette of serene neutrals and pastels include Cream, Ballet Pink and Summer Blue, highlighted with 'Fab Floral' print in Fiery Red."

From the moment i saw the Twitter posts of the Wedgewood mini tea set invitations i got the sense this collection would be classic with the usual Mulberry twist and i was right. Simple cut shapes with textured detailing like sequins and embroidery with an injection of stong colour and one core print running through the collection, all the looks coming down the catwalk oozed a glamorous yet relaxed feel whilst remaining very simplistic.
The simple adoption of this bold colour pallete across the accessories, was a very striking feature especially in the updated Bayswater and Willow tote, with the new tonal stripes, particularly beautiful in the orange/red which normally isn't in my colour palette but on thses classic piece it seemed to make the bright colour more wearable.

For me this collection was stunning but a little more toned down compared to the previous Spring/Summer collections with a very muted colour palette. However the bag collection was at its usual high level of gorgeous, with at least three that i want to buy - i especially liked the colour/patern updates to the classics and the new additions - the double Bayswater and Kensal clutch.

And finally the Accessories..

A beautiful summery collection that has made this rainy day seem brighter, a fun mix of colour and texture that is the perfect high note for creative director Emma Hill to leave on. She will be missed, especially as Mulberry has become a well known, respected brand during her reign - i  eagerly wait to see who will fill this ladies glittery shoes and how the next seasons collection will shape the future of the brand.

And just in case all of these beautiful pictures are not enough, and you were otherwise engaged this afternoon, check out the show - Enjoy
